Los santuarios más importantes en el estado son El Rosario y Sierra Chincua en Michoacán. En ellos se puede practicar además de la observación de las mariposas, senderismo, paseo a caballo, fotografía y observatorio de aves.
Otros recintos en los que se puede admirar la llegada de la Mariposa Monarca a México son Santuario Ejido El Capulín en Donato Guerra del Estado de México, Santuario Piedra Herrada en las faldas del Nevado de Toluca y El Santuario La Mesa que se encuentra entre el Estado de México y Michoacán.

Evodio Escalante recibió el Premio Internacional Rubén Bonifaz Nuño 2025 que otorga el Instituto de Investigaciones Filológicas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). De acuerdo a un comunidado de la institución con este premio se reconoce “su larga y admirable trayectoria como ensayista, polémico, crítico literario, investigador universitario, pero ante todo como poeta”.
La ceremonia en donde Escalante recibirá el premio será el 11 de noviembre a las 12:30 horas en el Aula Magna del Instituto mencionado
