Alice y Ellen Kessler, las célebres gemelas Kessler, quienes fallecieron el 17 de noviembre de 2025 a los 89 años, en su casa de Grünwald, cerca de Múnich. De acuerdo con un comunicado, las gemelas decidieron irse como vivieron, juntas tras decidir voluntariamente someterse a un proceso de suicidio asistido, permitido por la ley alemana desde 2020. Se cree que una de las razones para tomar esta decisión fue que Ellen sufrió un accidente cerebrovascular isquémico una semana antes.
Nacieron en 1936 en Nerchau, en plena Guerra, su formación dancística en Leipzig, les permitió ser bailarinas en varios centros nocturnos europeos como el Lido de París. De 1955 a 1964 participaron en poco más de diez producciones cinematográficas y representaron a Alemania en Eurovisión 1959.
También protagonizaron el icónico programa italiano Studio Uno de 1961 a 1966, época en la que aceptaron posar para la Revista Playboy con un gran éxito. A partir de ahí debutaron en la televisión estadunidense con apariciones en The Ed Sullivan Show y The Dean Martin Show.
Recibieron la Orden del Mérito de Baviera y de la República Federal de Alemania y su círculo cercano incluía nombres tan legendarios como Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Fred Astaire y Rock Hudson.

Alice and Ellen Kessler, the famous Kessler twins, died on November 17, 2025, at the age of 89, at their home in Grünwald, near Munich. According to a statement, the twins chose to leave this world as they had lived, together, after voluntarily undergoing assisted suicide, permitted under German law since 2020. It is believed that one of the reasons for this decision was that Ellen suffered an ischemic stroke a week earlier.

Born in 1936 in Nerchau, in the midst of the war, their dance training in Leipzig allowed them to become dancers in various European nightclubs, such as the Lido in Paris. From 1955 to 1964, they appeared in just over ten films and represented Germany at Eurovision in 1959. They also starred in the iconic Italian television program Studio Uno from 1961 to 1966, during which time they posed for Playboy magazine to great acclaim. Following this, they made their American television debut with appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show and The Dean Martin Show.

They received the Order of Merit of Bavaria and the Federal Republic of Germany, and their inner circle included such legendary names as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Fred Astaire, and Rock Hudson.

Al evento acudieron colegas y personalidades de la indusstria como Colin Farrell, Steven Spielberg y Emilio Estévez, además de Alejandro González Iñárritu quien trabaja actualmente con Cruise en la cinta Judy.
