La Medalla de Oro al Mérito Cultural de Barcelona, galardón que concede el Ayuntamiento de esa ciudad a las personas que han contribuido significativamente a la vida cultural le será entregado a Marisol Schulz, por su labor al frente del equipo que hace posible la Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara.
Ante la noticia Schulz Manaut compartió: “Barcelona ha sido parte de mi educación sentimental, de mi vida, de mi vida cultural, de mis lecturas”.

El alcalde de Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, y los concejales Jordi Martí Galbis (Juntos x Cataluña), Pau
González (BeC) y Jordi Castellana (ERC), han anunciado esta mañana desde México que propondrán
conceder la Medalla al Mérito Cultural del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona a la directora general de la FIL,
Marisol Schulz. El anuncio se ha producido en plena celebración de la Feria Internacional del Libro de
Guadalajara, que en su 39.ª edición tiene en Barcelona como ciudad invitada de honor en la mayor
operación de promoción internacional de la cultura y literatura catalanas realizada nunca por Barcelona.
Los cuatro grupos municipales que han tenido representación en la que es la feria del libro más importante
de Latinoamérica, han coincidido en destacar los valores de Schulz, a los que proponen reconocer en tanto
que impulsora de la presencia de Barcelona como invitada de honor a la FIL. De la editora mexicana
destacan también la complicidad con la ciudad y los tres años de trabajo compartido, predisposición,
escucha y ayuda.

En la apertura del Salón Carlos Fuentes, la Directora General de la 39 Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL), Marisol Schulz Manaut, reconoció a Eduardo Mendoza como una de las figuras más representativas de la literatura de esa región y embajador de la delegación de Barcelona, quien compartió la visión que guarda de su ciudad como una entidad que ha sido escenario de acontecimientos fuera de serie, como la llegada de Aníbal, que portó desde Cártago 37 elefantes, lo mismo que una gran cantidad de acontecimientos trágicos durante la dictadura y los últimos acontecimientos políticos en las que se ha visto envuelta.
