La exposición busca reinsertar a Santibáñez (Nacida en Oaxaca en 1895 y fallecida en la Ciudad de México en 1966, )en el canon de la fotografía nacional tras décadas de ser una figura poco difundida. Su trabajo se caracteriza por:

 Un enfoque artístico que utiliza técnicas para asemejar la fotografía a la pintura, marcado por un romanticismo melancólico. Santibañez fue una retratista de élite, ganó reconocimiento tras ganar un concurso de El Universal Ilustrado y retratar a mujeres destacadas de la sociedad mexicana desde 1919. Sus composiciones reflejan la estética de los años 20 y, en ocasiones, las tragedias personales que marcaron su vida y obra.

La exposición “María Santibáñez. Destellos de Gran Mundo”, presentada en el Centro Regional de Cultura Nepantla, irrumpe en ese paisaje historiográfico para restituir una ausencia. Se trata de la primera muestra individual dedicada a una autora cuya obra, producida entre los años veinte y mediados de los treinta, dialogó con el pictorialismo, el nacionalismo posrevolucionario y el modernismo.

The exhibition “María Santibáñez: Glimpses of the Great World” is currently on display at the Nepantla Regional Cultural Center and the Juana Inés de la Cruz House Museum in Tepetlixpa, State of Mexico. The exhibition pays tribute to María Santibáñez, one of the most outstanding and versatile Mexican photographers of the 1920s, renowned for her mastery of pictorialist portraiture. It can be enjoyed from February 7 to 28.

The exhibition seeks to reinstate Santibáñez (Born in Oaxaca in 1895 and died in Mexico City in 1966,) within the canon of Mexican photography after decades of being a little-known figure. Her work is characterized by:

An artistic approach that uses techniques to make photography resemble painting, marked by a melancholic romanticism. Santibañez was an elite portraitist, gaining recognition after winning a contest by El Universal Ilustrado and portraying prominent women of Mexican society since 1919. Her compositions reflect the aesthetics of the 1920s and, at times, the personal tragedies that marked her life and work.

The exhibition “María Santibáñez: Glimpses of a Grand World,” presented at the Nepantla Regional Cultural Center, bursts into this historiographical landscape to rectify a void. It is the first solo exhibition dedicated to an artist whose work, produced between the 1920s and the mid-1930s, engaged with pictorialism, post-revolutionary nationalism, and modernism.

Gisèle Pelicot ha lanzado mundialmente sus memorias tituladas «Un himno a la vida» (en francés, Et la joie de vivre), publicadas el 17 de febrero de 2026. En esta obra, Pelicot relata en primera persona su vida antes, durante y después del mediático juicio contra su exmarido y otros 51 hombres por violaciones masivas cometidas mientras ella estaba drogada. 

El libro es un testimonio directo donde Pelicot rompe el silencio para narrar su proceso de sanación y su transformación en un símbolo mundial de la lucha contra la violencia sexual. Ella describe el relato como un «tsunami» necesario para recuperar su identidad. La obra ha sido traducida a 22 idiomas. En España, la editorial encargada de su publicación es Lumen, mientras que en Francia fue editada por Flammarion.

Pelicot ha declarado que su intención no es ser vista como una víctima, sino transmitir valentía y esperanza a otros sobrevivientes. Define su capacidad de seguir confiando en las personas como su «venganza». Tras el lanzamiento, la autora de 73 años tiene previsto iniciar una gira por diversos países europeos para presentar su historia personalmente.

Gisèle Pelicot has released her memoirs, «A Hymn to Life» (in French, Et la joie de vivre), published worldwide on February 17, 2026. In this work, Pelicot recounts in the first person her life before, during, and after the highly publicized trial against her ex-husband and 51 other men for gang rapes committed while she was drugged.

The book is a direct testimony in which Pelicot breaks her silence to narrate her healing process and her transformation into a global symbol of the fight against sexual violence. She describes the account as a «tsunami» necessary to reclaim her identity. The work has been translated into 22 languages. In Spain, it is published by Lumen, while in France it was published by Flammarion.

Pelicot has stated that her intention is not to be seen as a victim, but to transmit courage and hope to other survivors. She defines her ability to continue trusting people as her «revenge.» Following the launch, the 73-year-old author plans to embark on a tour of various European countries to present her story in person.

Javier Bardem, Tilda Swinton, Paul Laverty y Adam McKay se encuentran entre los 81 firmantes de una carta abierta publicada el 17 de febrero de 2026 en la revista Variety que denuncia el «silencio institucional» de la Berlinale ante el conflicto en Gaza.

Los firmantes rechazan las declaraciones del presidente del jurado, Wim Wenders, quien afirmó que el cine debe mantenerse «al margen de la política».

La carta, coordinada por el grupo Film Workers for Palestine, acusa al festival de censurar a artistas que se oponen a las acciones de Israel y de no proteger la libertad de expresión de los participantes. El legendario documentalista estadounidense Frederick Wiseman falleció a los 96 años el pasado lunes 16 de febrero de 2026 en su casa de Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Considerado uno de los padres del documental moderno, Wiseman destacó por un estilo único:  Cine sin artificios: Sus películas no utilizaban narración, entrevistas ni música añadida, permitiendo que la realidad de las instituciones hablara por sí misma.

Desde su debut con la controversial Titicut Follies (1967) —prohibida durante años, otra de sus obras destacadas fue Menus-Plaisirs – Les Troisgros (2023). Wiseman recibió un Oscar honorífico en 2016 y el León de Oro por su trayectoria en el Festival de Venecia en 2014.  Su familia y su distribuidora, Zipporah Films, confirmaron que murió pacíficamente, aunque no se reveló una causa de muerte específica

Legendary American documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman died at the age of 96 on Monday, February 16, 2026, at his home in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Considered one of the fathers of modern documentary, Wiseman was known for his unique style: unadorned cinema. His films used no narration, interviews, or added music, allowing the reality of institutions to speak for itself.

Since his debut with the controversial Titicut Follies (1967)—banned for years—another of his notable works was Menus-Plaisirs – Les Troisgros (2023). Wiseman received an honorary Oscar in 2016 and the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival in 2014. His family and his distributor, Zipporah Films, confirmed that he died peacefully, although a specific cause of death was not revealed.
