El actor y director japonés Hideo Sakaki, de 55 años, ha sido condenado por el Tribunal de Distrito de Tokio a ocho años de prisión por agredir sexualmente a dos actrices.
Sakaki fue hallado culpable de abusar de su posición como director para coaccionar a dos mujeres, entonces en sus 20 años, para mantener relaciones sexuales en incidentes separados ocurridos en 2015 y 2016.

Japanese actor and director Hideo Sakaki, 55, has been sentenced by the Tokyo District Court to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting two actresses.

Sakaki was found guilty of abusing his position as a director to coerce two women, then in their 20s, into having sex in separate incidents in 2015 and 2016.
The court determined that the filmmaker used the pretext of giving «acting instructions» and private lessons to commit the assaults. Judge Shoji Miyata described the acts as «malicious and despicable crimes» that exploited the power imbalance between director and actor, seriously violating the victims’ sexual autonomy. Although prosecutors had requested a 10-year sentence, the final sentence was eight years. Sakaki pleaded not guilty during the trial and has appealed the sentence.

The allegations against Sakaki first surfaced in 2022 through the magazine Shukan Bunshun, leading to the cancellation of the release of his films Honeymoon and Confession. The case is considered one of the most prominent of the #MeToo movement in the Japanese film industry.
