A team of archaeologists recently discovered 22 monumental blocks on the seabed in the eastern part of the port of Alexandria. These blocks are believed to be fragments of the Lighthouse of Alexandria, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Alexandria was built in the early 3rd century BC, during the reign of Ptolemy I Soter, and designed by the Greek architect Sostratus of Cnidus. Standing over 100 meters tall, it was built on the island of Pharos.

The discovery represents one of the most significant advances in 21st-century underwater archaeology.
