TOURISM. Christmas Village Opens in Aguascalientes

El corredor de cerca de 12 kilómetros ofrece una amplia variedad de atracciones y actividades de temporada gratuitas para toda la familia del 18 de diciembre de 2025 al 4 de enero de 2026 en el Parque Villerías

El gobierno estatal de Aguascalientes instaló Villa Navidad que puede disfrutarse del 18 de diciembre de 2025 al 4 de enero de 2026 en el Parque Villerías en la Línea Verde, al oriente de la capital de dicho eestado.

Durante la inauguración de dicho corredor, Teresa Jiménez, gobernadora de Aguascalientes dijo: “Estoy muy contenta, porque el día de hoy se hace la inauguración de este espacio, que es para ustedes y sus familias para que vivan la Navidad en su máximo esplendor”.

Villa Navidad ofrece a lo lago de 12 kilómetros, una amplia variedad de atracciones y actividades pensadas para niñas, niños y personas de todas las edades. Entre ellas destacan las cuatro pistas de patinaje, juegos mecánicos, cine navideño, así como múltiples actividades recreativas y talleres de manualidades que invitan a compartir y crear juntos. Durante el periodo ya mencionado, el público puede disfrutar en diversos horarios de la narración de cuentos navideños a bordo del tranvía, actividades en el pabellón infantil y un set fotográfico navideño donde las familias pueden tomarse selfies junto a Santa Claus, el Grinch y los Reyes Magos. El sendero navideño conecta avenida Mariano Hidalgo, Villerías, Solidaridad I y Villas de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción.

Durante todos estos días se realizarán también posadas tradicionales, habrá piñatas, presentaciones artísticas, se entregarán bolos y se realizan diversos talleres. .

Leonardo Montañez Castro, presidente municipal de Aguascalientes, dijo durante la inauguración: “En esta temporada, vamos a pedir paz y salud, pero, sobre todo, esta época es muy bonita para dar, recibir y perdonar, de eso se trata la familia, que Dios los bendiga a todas y todos”, destacó el alcalde.

Como parte de las actividades que dieron inicio a esta gran celebración, también se llevó a cabo el Desfile Navideño “DIFundiendo Amor en Navidad”, un recorrido lleno de color, música y sonrisas que iluminó la avenida Poliducto, desde avenida Hacienda de Ojocaliente hasta avenida San Francisco de los Viveros, llevando un mensaje de amor y unión a las familias del oriente de la ciudad.

Durante la inauguración también estuvieron presentes Aurora Jiménez Esquivel, primera voluntaria y presidenta del DIF Estatal; Mauricio González López, secretario de Turismo del Estado; Antonio Martínez Romo, secretario de Seguridad Pública del Estado; Norma Adela Guel Saldívar, secretaria de la Familia; Paty Castillo, secretaria de Desarrollo Social; Sarahi Macías Alicea, secretaria de Sustentabilidad, Medio Ambiente y Agua del Estado; Rubén Galaviz Tristán, secretario de Salud del Estado; Esaú Garza de Vega, secretario de Desarrollo Económico, Ciencia y Tecnología del Estado; Paty Cárdenas Delgado, directora general del Instituto Aguascalentense de las Mujeres; Héctor Alejandro Vázquez Zúñiga, director general del Instituto Cultural de Aguascalientes; Luis Enrique Gutiérrez Reynoso, director general del Instituto de Educación de Aguascalientes; Nidia Ivette Jiménez Aguilar, directora del Instituto de Convivencia y Desarrollo Línea Verde; Javier Rosas Reyes, director general del Instituto Aguascalentense de la Juventud; Antonio Arámbula López, secretario general de Gobierno; Luis León, secretario particular, entre otras autoridades

The state government of Aguascalientes installed Villa Navidad, which can be enjoyed from December 18, 2025 to January 4, 2026 in Villerías Park on the Green Line, east of the state capital.

The Christmas Village offers a wide variety of attractions and activities along its 12-kilometer length, designed for children and people of all ages. Among the highlights are four ice skating rinks, amusement rides, a Christmas movie theater, as well as numerous recreational activities and craft workshops that encourage sharing and creating together. During the aforementioned period, the public can enjoy Christmas storytelling aboard the trolley at various times, activities in the children’s pavilion, and a Christmas photo set where families can take selfies with Santa Claus, the Grinch, and the Three Wise Men. The Christmas trail connects Mariano Hidalgo Avenue, Villerías, Solidaridad I, and Villas de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción.

Throughout these days, traditional posadas will also be held, along with piñatas, artistic performances, goody bags, and various workshops.

Leonardo Montañez Castro, mayor of Aguascalientes, said during the inauguration: “During this season, we will ask for peace and health, but above all, this is a beautiful time to give, receive, and forgive; that is what family is all about. May God bless you all,” the mayor emphasized.

As part of the activities that kicked off this grand celebration, the Christmas Parade “Spreading Love at Christmas” also took place, a colorful procession filled with music and smiles that illuminated Poliducto Avenue, from Hacienda de Ojocaliente Avenue to San Francisco de los Viveros Avenue, bringing a message of love and unity to the families of the city’s east side.

Edwin Estrada Barada (1969-2025) dies

Hace dos días en mi familia perdimos a Edwin Estrada Barada, mi querido primo hermano, de tan solo 56 años de edad. Era el hijo menor de Noel Estrada, compositor de En Mi Viejo San Juan.

Si Edwin bien heredó el gran legado musical y cultural de su padre, desafortunadamente también había heredado la diabetes juvenil y familiar desde los 10 años de edad. Los últimos años en vida estuvo luchando con todas las complicaciones y consecuencias de esa enfermedad. Incluso teniéndose que someter a la diálisis por su padecimiento renal para poder vivir. Su padre también murió de la misma manera, y también al comienzo de una época navideña, el 1 de diciembre de 1979, a los 61 años de edad.

Edwin era psicólogo de profesión, como persona, de una gran sensibilidad, inteligente, y amante de la música, en especial de Silvio Rodríguez. Contaba con una gran voz de tenor, pero no pudo continuar cantando profesionalmente por haber sufrido un trauma durante el funeral de su padre.

Según el mismo Edwin contaba, la gran cantante puertorriqueña Ruth Fernández, quien ya conocía de sobra su talento musical y su fuerza vocal, le invitó cariñosamente a que interpretara con ella la obra maestra de su progenitor, himno de la capital, en el cementerio, frente a la tumba de su padre. La presión que sintió en aquel momento fue tan grande que lo traumatizó para siempre y no pudo volver a cantar.

Le sobreviven, de su familia inmediata, su querida y amada esposa y viuda Olga Otero, su único hijo Gabriel Estrada Otero, su hermano mayor Joel y su sobrino Noel Sebastián.

“Pero mi corazón se quedó frente al mar en mi viejo San Juan”.

Two days ago, my family lost Edwin Estrada Barada, my dear cousin, at only 56 years old. He was the youngest son of Noel Estrada, composer of En Mi Viejo San Juan.

While Edwin inherited his father’s great musical and cultural legacy, he had unfortunately also inherited juvenile diabetes, which ran in his family since he was 10 years old. In his final years, he struggled with all the complications and consequences of that disease, even having to undergo dialysis for kidney failure in order to survive. His father also died in the same way, also at the beginning of the Christmas season, on December 1, 1979, at the age of 61.

Edwin was a psychologist by profession, and as a person, he was very sensitive, intelligent, and a lover of music, especially Silvio Rodríguez. He had a beautiful tenor voice, but he was unable to continue singing professionally due to the trauma he suffered during his father’s funeral.

According to Edwin himself, the great Puerto Rican singer Ruth Fernández, who was already well aware of his musical talent and vocal power, affectionately invited him to perform his father’s masterpiece, the anthem of the capital, with her at the cemetery, in front of his father’s grave. The pressure he felt at that moment was so great that it traumatized him forever, and he was never able to sing again.

He is survived by his beloved wife and widow, Olga Otero, his only son, Gabriel Estrada Otero, his older brother, Joel, and his nephew, Noel Sebastián.
