El documental Querida Fátima de Lorena Gutiérrez Rangel, Su Kim, Jesús Quintana Vega, Rodrigo Reyes y Dawn Valadez fue una de las cintas más galardonadas en la edición 41 del FICG, con el Premio del Público, el Premio Mezcal a mejor dirección y Premio Mezcal a mejor película mexicana.
Querida Fátima, narra la historia de una madre en la búsqueda de justicia por el asesinato de su hija. “El cine es la memoria del mundo y estoy muy orgullosa de que la voz de mi hija Fátima pueda trascender para que prevalezca su memoria, por medio de esta película. ¡Ni una más, ni una más, ni una asesinada más!”, dijo en voz alta Lorena Gutiérrez Rangel.
También se dio a conocer que el Premio a la mejor película iberoamericana de Ficción fue para Hangar rojo. El premio al Mejor Documental Iberoamericano se lo llevó Niñas escarlata de Paula Cury.

El Premio Maguey a la mejor película fue para Feito pipa, de Allan Everton, Mejor Largometraje de Animación: Coração das trevas, de Rogério Nunes, Mejor Película Jalisciense: El círculo de los mentirosos, de Nancy Cruz Orozco. Mejor Cortometraje Jalisciense: Mi lugar favorito, de Alejandro Hidrogo Arechiga, Luis Zamarroni, Mariana Salazar y Sergio Campestre, Mejor Película Socioambiental: Black Water ,de Natxo Leuza, Mejor Cortometraje Iberoamericano: Tres, de Juan Ignacio Ceballos. Mejor Largometraje de Animación: Coração das trevas, de Rogério Nunes, Mejor Cortometraje de Animación: Una vez en un cuerpo, de María Cristina Pérez González.

Durante la ceremonia de premiación se entregó el Homenaje Industria a Elena Vilardell, Secretaria Técnica y Ejecutiva del programa Ibermedia y el Homenaje Internacional al cineasta Darren Aronofsky quien compartió: “este festival, en compañía de grandes contadores de historias me hace recordar lo humano que somos y lo importante que es para mí plasmarlo en una pantalla de cine. Para todos los estudiantes de cine: no bajen la guardia, siempre encontrarán a alguien que esté atento a lo que quieran narrar”

Dear Fatima tells the story of a mother seeking justice for her daughter’s murder. “Cinema is the memory of the world, and I am so proud that my daughter Fátima’s voice can transcend so that her memory prevails, through this film. Not one more, not one more, not one more woman murdered!” Lorena Gutiérrez Rangel exclaimed.

It was also announced that the award for Best Ibero-American Fiction Film went to Hangar Rojo. The award for Best Ibero-American Documentary went to Niñas Escarlata by Paula Cury.

The Maguey Award for Best Film went to Feito Pipa by Allan Everton, Best Animated Feature Film to Coração das Trevas by Rogério Nunes, and Best Film from Jalisco to El Círculo de los Mentirosos by Nancy Cruz Orozco. Best Short Film from Jalisco: My Favorite Place, by Alejandro Hidrogo Arechiga, Luis Zamarroni, Mariana Salazar, and Sergio Campestre; Best Socio-Environmental Film: Black Water, by Natxo Leuza; Best Ibero-American Short Film: Three, by Juan Ignacio Ceballos; Best Animated Feature Film: Heart of the Trevas, by Rogério Nunes; Best Animated Short Film: Once in a Body, by María Cristina Pérez González.

During the awards ceremony, the Industry Tribute was presented to Elena Vilardell, Technical and Executive Secretary of the Ibermedia program, and the International Tribute to filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, who shared: “This festival, in the company of great storytellers, reminds me how human we are and how important it is for me to capture that on a movie screen. To all film students: don’t let your guard down, you will always find someone who is attentive to what you want to tell.”
