Volaris has created new flights connecting Guadalajara with Durango, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Villahermosa, Puebla, and Bogotá, while Air Canada has launched its direct flight to Toronto.

Volaris y Air Canadá han creado recientemente vuelos directos desde Guadalajara hacia varios destinos de México, Colombia y Canadá.

Elisa Haro Ruiz, secretaria de Turismo del Estado de Durango, compartió: “Estamos muy contentos de contar ya con un vuelo directo Guadalajara/ Durango. Han sido años de trabajar con Volaris, es muy importante porque es uno de los principales emisores del país, estamos a 50 minutos de Durango venimos a promover un mundo de cine, que vaya a los escenarios de grandes producciones cinematográficas”.
La funcionaria añadió: “Actualmente el turismo de Jalisco representa el 6 por ciento del total de turistas que recibe Durango, hasta hoy se trata de un turismo carretero y creemos que con estas conexiones con vuelos lunes, miércoles y viernes se puede incrementar esta cifra por lo menos al doble. Durango es una oferta turística nueva para el tapatío, queremos también a los duranguenses en Jalisco, me parece que hay mucho que ofrecer por parte de las dos ciudades. Para cerrar el año tendremos la Feria Navideña que se realizará del 19 de diciembre al 6 de enero, también el Festival Ricardo Castro que se celebra en Semana Santa y Pascua, la Feria Nacional La Villista en Junio y Julio que este año rompió récord con 1 millón 400 mil visitantes en los 17 días de feria, coincidirá con el Mundial. El Festival Revueltas lo tenemos en Octubre y el Festival de Día de Muertos en Octubre y Noviembre, todos esos eventos cuentan con el 98 por ciento de actividades gratuitas”.

El miércoles 5 de noviembre fue inaugurado el vuelo Guadalajara-Toronto que contará con una frecuencia de tres viajes directos por semana a través de Air Canadá.

Elisa Haro Ruiz, Secretary of Tourism for the State of Durango, shared: “We are very pleased to now have a direct flight between Guadalajara and Durango. We have been working with Volaris for years; it is very important because it is one of the country’s main source markets. We are 50 minutes from Durango, and we are here to promote a world of cinema, to take visitors to the locations of major film productions.”

The official added: “Currently, tourism from Jalisco represents 6 percent of the total tourists Durango receives. Until now, this has been primarily road tourism, and we believe that with these new flight connections on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, we can at least double this figure. Durango is a new tourist destination for residents of Guadalajara, and we also want Durango residents to visit Jalisco. I think both cities have much to offer. El ITESO realiza la edición 23 de su Festival Cultural Universitario del 29 de octubre al 6 de noviembre en el campus y en la Casa ITESO Clavigero bajo el lema “Naturalmente humanos”.

El programa para esta ocasión incluye la realización de funciones de danza y teatro en las que destaca la vinculación que tendrán con el Festín de los Muñecos, conciertos, conversatorios, stand up experiencias cen el bosque La Primavera y exposiciones, entre las cuáles destaca la muestra que se inauguró el 30 de octubre en Casa ITESO Clavigero y que puede apreciarse hasta marzo de 2026 titulada Escribir con una aguja: la palabra en textil, en vinculación con el Museo Textil de Oaxaca y la Fundación Alfredo Harp Helú Oaxaca.

LA MUESTRA EN CASA ITESO CLAVIGERO PUEDE VISITARSE HASTA ENERO DE 2026

Escribir con una aguja: la palabra en textil trata de una exposicón que reúne más de 40 piezas de comunidades de México, Estados Unidos, Japón, Perú, Panamá y Guatemala, entre otros países, que permite apreciar los textiles como resultado de la interacción con plantas y materiales con los que se tiñe, se confecciona y se borda la identidad y la expresión comunitarias.

De acuerdo con Héctor Meneses curador de esta exhibición, “la muestra se planeó poco antes de la pandemia y no se realizó. A petición de Gutierre Aceves, curador de Casa ITESO Clavigero, en el museo consideramos que podríamos retomar su exhibición en Guadalajara ya que nos parece muy pertinente la línea de trabajo en torno a la generación del conocimiento que caracteriza al ITESO y la Orden Jesuita. Estas piezas son una muestra entre la raíz etimológica que comparten la palabra “texto” y “textil”.

Meneses dijo: “Buscamos evidenciar de manera muy fehaciente cómo el textil es un documento que se puede leer y que se puede escribir y solo hay que estar conscientes de que es otro lenguaje. Mostramos ejemplos de varias culturas , su forma de reflejar el texto de manera literal o quienes retoman la escritura como un elemento figurativo, letras que están en un orden inusual, y esa letra se vuelve un signo decorativo o parece que son palabras y están inspiradas en la estética de una lengua tradicional. Es por eso que podemos encontrar en ellas frases en español, hay, birmano, yoruba, chino y japonés, o inglés. Todas son parte de la colección del museo, sólo dos piezas son propiedad de Gutierre Aceves”.

El experto añadió que el acervo del Museo asciende a casi 10 mil piezas, de diversas culturas del mundo porque “desde su fundación la idea es que esta institución fuese un lugar de encuentro multicultural. Algunas del siglo XIX y otras de los siglos XX y XXI. Algunas piezas están elaboradas en algodón, otras en cera, lana, seda. Tenemos muchas procedentes de Asia y otras de Europa.

BUSCAN SER RECONOCIDOS COMO EVENTO CULTURAL SUSTENTABLE

Este año el Festival Cultural Universitario del ITESO será la primera actividad en Jalisco que buscará certificarse como evento cultural sustentable por la Secretaría de Medio Ambiente y Desarrollo Territorial (Semadet).

The program for this occasion includes dance and theater performances, highlighting their connection to the Puppet Festival, concerts, talks, stand-up comedy experiences in La Primavera Forest, and exhibitions. Among these is the exhibition that opened on October 30 at Casa ITESO Clavigero and will run until March 2026, titled «Writing with a Needle: The Word in Textiles,» a collaboration with the Textile Museum of Oaxaca and the Alfredo Harp Helú Oaxaca Foundation.

THE EXHIBITION AT CASA ITELO CLAVIGERO CAN BE VISITED UNTIL ENERO 2026

«Writing with a Needle: The Word in Textiles» is an exhibition that brings together more than 40 pieces from communities in Mexico, the United States, Japan, Peru, Panama, and Guatemala, among other countries. It allows visitors to appreciate textiles as a result of the interaction with plants and materials used to dye, weave, and embroider community identity and expression.

According to Héctor Meneses, curator of this exhibition, “the show was planned shortly before the pandemic and was not held. At Gutierre Aceves’ request, curator of Casa ITESO Clavigero, we at the museum considered resuming its exhibition in Guadalajara, as we find the line of work surrounding the generation of knowledge, which characterizes ITESO and the Jesuit Order, very relevant. These pieces are an example of the shared etymological root of the words ‘text’ and ‘textile.’” Meneses said: “We seek to demonstrate very clearly how textiles are documents that can be read and written on, and we simply need to be aware that it is another language. We show examples from various cultures, how they reflect the text literally, or how they use writing as a figurative element, letters that are in an unusual order, and that letter becomes a decorative sign or appears to be words inspired by the aesthetics of a traditional language. That is why we can find phrases in Spanish, Burmese, Yoruba, Chinese, Japanese, or English.” All are part of the museum’s collection; only two pieces belong to Gutierre Aceves.”

The expert added that the museum’s collection comprises nearly 10,000 pieces from diverse world cultures because “since its founding, the idea has been for this institution to be a multicultural meeting place. Some are from the 19th century, and others from the 20th and 21st centuries. Some pieces are made of cotton, others of wax, wool, or silk. We have many from Asia and others from Europe.”

SEEK RECOGNITION AS A SUSTAINABLE CULTURAL EVENT

This year, the ITESO University Cultural Festival will be the first activity in Jalisco to seek certification as a sustainable cultural event from the Ministry of Environment and Territorial Development (Semadet).

En Campus se realiza una jornada familiar donde hay altares de muertos y exposición de catrinas en diversos puntos, cuentacuentos de leyendas y un espectáculo de circo contemporáneo del colectivo Fuoco Di Strada.

2 de Noviembre
Visita guiada al Bosque La Primavera, que será acompañada por expertos en biología, ornitología y ecología.

A las 13:00 horas en Galería Jardín del Campus ITESO. Charla Aula abierta con Mónica Nepote y presentación de stand up de divulgación científica Solo mi pero entiende a cargo de Memo Vega.

A las 19:00 horas en Casa ITESO Clavigero. Conferencia “Archivo familiar”, en la que la poeta tapatía Mónica Nepote reflexionará sobre cómo puede hacerse literatura al ir de lo personal a lo colectivo. Se trata de una actividad de la Cátedra Magis de Literatura.
