Este año el encuentro cinematográfico que se realiza en 30 sedes del área conurbada de Guadalajara del 17 al 25 de abril con Chile como invitado de honr, contará con la proyección de 200 películas procedentes de 52 países

La edición 41 del Festival Internacional de Cine de Guadalajara (FICG) que se realiza del 17 al 25 de abril y que tiene a Chile homenajeará a Darren Aranofsky y la trayectoria de la actriz mexicana Luisa Huertas. Este año el Homenaje Premio Maguey Trayectoria será para Lola Dueñas y el Homenaje Industrias FICG para Elena Vilardell, según anunció Estrella Araiza, directora de dicho encuentro cinematográfico.

Araiza destacó que el encuentro ha preparado una retrospectiva de la obra de Arafnofsky que incluye cintas como The whale y Requiem for a drem. Durante su visita, el director estadunidense ofrecerá una master class. Mencionó que la cinta que inaugura la edición 41 es Moscas del mexicano Fernando Eimbcke.

La directora del FICG dijo estar satisfecha de que este año se contará con la proyección de 200 películas procedentes de 52 países en 30 sedes, de las cuales estarán en competencia poco menos de 70 títulos. Se recordó que el año pasado el FICG proyectó 210 películas de las cuales 114 estuvieron en competencia y se tuvo una asistencia de 289 mil 777 personas. Dijo también que otra novedad es la realización de la primera edición Panorama Frontera en Corto, que está fuera de competencia. La concreción de esta iniciativa se realizó gracias a los nexos que el festival tiene con el Guadalajara Los Ángeles Film Festival, Los Ángeles Latino International Film Festival y el San Diego Latino Film Festival,.

Guillermo Arturo Gómez Mata, presidente del Patronato del FICG mencionó que esta edición la inversión fue de 31 millones de pesos, de los cuales 16 millones de la Universidad de Guadalajara, 7 millones del Gobierno de Jalisco, 6 millones del Ayuntamiento de Guadalajara y 2 millones de Zapopan, además de que esperan 2 millones más por parte del gobierno federal, de la cual aún no les han dado respuesta.

El funcionario universitario agregó que este año se inscribieron mil 414 proyectos de los cuáles 227 pertenecen a la categoría de Género Fantástico que es de reciente creación. Este año Guadalajara Construye llega a su edición 20, Talentes y DocuLab con la cual se trabaja en conjunto con La Berlinale y ya cuenta con convocatorias en Estados Unidos y Canadá a su edición 18. El funcionario universitario compartió que también tuvieron buena respuesta para la sección de FICG Games y FICG Generación, esta última dedicada a recibir a estudiantes y creadores jóvenes.

Habrá también showcases de capítulos de series, y documentales de música en la sección Son de Cine In-Edit. El Premio Maguey dedicada a promover el cine LGBTQ+cumple 15 años y por eso se realiza bajo el concepto de Queerciañera.

EXPOSICIONES Y FUNCIONES AL AIRE LIBRE.

En el marco de esta edición 41 el Museo de las Artes de la Universidad de Guadalajara alberga la muestra Corespondencias: orozco-Einsenstein, el Paseo Chapultepec, la galería pública que de acuerdo a los organizadores del FICG atrajo la atención de 188 mil visitantes en 2025, recibirá 41 años de carteles del FICG.

GALAS A BENEFICIO

Respecto a la Galas del FICG de las cuáles lo recabado se entrega a asociaciones civiles que realizan labores altruistas en diversos ámbitos, José Trinidad Padilla López presidente de la Fundación Universidad de Guadalajara compartió este año participan siete asociaciones: Juntos Cambiando Vidas, que da equipo médico y sillas de ruedas para personas con parálisis cerebral; el Colectivo Pro Derechos de la Niñez –conocido como Codeni–, que trabaja con niños en situación de calle en el Centro Histórico y la Fundación PAS, que trabaja en la prevención del abuso sexual infantil en la entidad, Cruz Rosa, que da atención integral a mujeres con cáncer; Mi Gran Esperanza, que apoya a niños y jóvenes con cáncer sin seguridad social; TINA, que ofrece terapia integral para niños con autismo; Danza Aptitud, que ofrece arte para personas con síndrome de Down y discapacidad intelectual.

Recordó “comprar un boleto de las galas, es más que una entrada al cine”, para muestra mencionó que en 2025 se recabaron 462 mil 602 pesos y que cada organización beneficiada recibiera 66 mil 086 pesos.

The 41st edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG), taking place from April 17 to 25 and featuring Chile as guest of honor, will pay tribute to Darren Aronofsky and the career of Mexican actress Luisa Huertas. This year, the Maguey Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Lola Dueñas, and the FICG Industries Tribute to Elena Vilardell, as announced by Estrella Araiza, director of the film festival.

Araiza highlighted that the festival has prepared a retrospective of Aronofsky’s work, including films such as The Whale and Requiem for a Dream. During his visit, the American director will offer a master class. She mentioned that the film opening the 41st edition is Flies by Mexican director Fernando Eimbcke.

The director of the FICG expressed her satisfaction that this year’s festival will feature 200 films from 52 countries at 30 venues, with just under 70 titles in competition. She noted that last year the FICG screened 210 films, 114 of which were in competition, and had an audience of 289,777 people. She also mentioned that another new feature is the first edition of Panorama Frontera en Corto, a non-competitive section. The realization of this initiative was made possible thanks to the festival’s connections with the Guadalajara Los Angeles Film Festival, the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, and the San Diego Latino Film Festival.

Guillermo Arturo Gómez Mata, president of the FICG Board of Trustees, mentioned that this year’s investment totaled 31 million pesos, of which 16 million came from the University of Guadalajara, 7 million from the Government of Jalisco, 6 million from the Guadalajara City Council, and 2 million from Zapopan. They are also awaiting an additional 2 million pesos from the federal government, for which they have not yet received a response.

The university official added that 1,414 projects were submitted this year, 227 of which belong to the newly created Fantasy Genre category. This year, Guadalajara Construye reaches its 20th edition, along with Talentes and DocuLab, a collaborative project with the Berlinale, which already has open calls for entries in the United States and Canada for its 18th edition. The university official shared that they also received a positive response for the FICG Games and FICG Generación sections, the latter dedicated to hosting students and young creators.

There will also be showcases of series episodes and music documentaries in the Son de Cine In-Edit section. The Maguey Award, dedicated to promoting LGBTQ+ cinema, celebrates its 15th anniversary and is therefore being held under the Queerciañera concept.

OUTDOOR EXHIBITIONS AND SCREENINGS

As part of this 41st edition, the Museum of Arts of the University of Guadalajara is hosting the exhibition «Correspondences: Orozco-Einstein,» and Paseo Chapultepec, the public gallery that, according to FICG organizers, attracted 188,000 visitors in 2025, will display 41 years of FICG posters.

BENEFIT GALAS

Regarding the FICG Galas, whose proceeds are donated to civil associations that carry out altruistic work in various fields, José Trinidad Padilla López, president of the University of Guadalajara Foundation, shared that seven associations are participating this year: Juntos Cambiando Vidas (Together Changing Lives), which provides medical equipment and wheelchairs for people with cerebral palsy; the Colectivo Pro Derechos de la Niñez (Children’s Rights Collective) – known as Codeni – which works with street children in the Historic Center; the PAS Foundation, which works to prevent child sexual abuse in the state; and Cruz Rosa (Pink Cross), which provides comprehensive care to women with cancer. My Great Hope, which supports children and young people with cancer without social security; TINA, which offers comprehensive therapy for children with autism; and Danza Aptitud, which offers art for people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities.

She reminded everyone that “buying a ticket to the galas is more than just a movie ticket,” mentioning as an example that in 2025, 462,602 pesos were raised, with each beneficiary organization receiving 66,086 pesos.

TOURISM. Pilgrims are invited to join the Guardians of the Pilgrim Route initiative.

Se puede participar como voluntario o como patrocinador de kits. El propósito es mantener los senderos por los que transitan en su visita a la Virgen de Talpa limpios

You can participate as a volunteer or as a kit sponsor. The goal is to keep the trails used by pilgrims visiting the Virgin of Talpa clean.

Guardianes de la Ruta es el nombre de la iniciativa que ha implementado la operadora Ruta del Peregrino para mantener limpios los senderos por los que transitan miles de devotos que acuden a visitar a la Virgen de Talpa.

“La idea surgió de la que ha sido una problemática que se ha tenido de forma permanente durante muchos años. Los peregrinos producen mucha basura a su paso. El propósito es concientizar a los devotos que al tirar basura en los senderos, se daña la propiedad privada de terceros, la naturaleza, la fauna al grado de que hay ejidatarios que han considerado la posibilidad de no dejarlos pasar por ciertas áreas”, dijo Rodolfo Herrada, director de la operadora Ruta del Peregrino, quien agregó: “Estamos buscando que la gente guarde su basura hasta puntos específicos en donde es más fácil la recolección, no en cerros, ni en cañadas. La idea no es limpiar cada vez que pasen, más bien es mantener limpio el camino, que las personas hagan caso a la señalética relacionada con este problema y utilicen correctamente el mobiliario que hemos colocado en colaboración con personal de los Ayuntamientos de los municipios de Talpa, Mixtlán, Atenguillo, Guachinango, Mascota y Talpa de Allende”.

El programa consiste en que empresas o particulares colaboren a patrocinar paquetes de 15 kits de los equipos Peregrinos Custodios de la Creación para brigadas de voluntarios que ya hasta el momento han realizado labores de limpieza en el Cerro del Obispo de Ameca y en el Espinazo del Diablo en Atenguillo. Las empresas o particulares que participan reciben el nombramiento de Embajador de la Ruta, su depósito lo pueden hacer a través de la plataforma de Go found me. El kit incluye una playera y un morral, hasta el momento se cuenta con una brigada de poco más de 30 voluntarios. Además de los voluntarios, el personal de los ayuntamientos implicados provee de vehículos para un mejor manejo de los desechos.

Herrada dijo que después de los eventos del 22 de febrero, la afluencia de peregrinos sobre todo de la ruta que viene desde Tecomán ha sido poco transitada y conforme han pasado los días el flujo ha aumentado y que las autoridades municipales han comenzado a trabajar en conjunto con iniciativa privada para apoyar en servicios de salud y seguridad a los peregrinos.

“Esta semana hubo reunión de presidentes municipales del lado de Ayutla, Tenamaxtlán, que están brindando su apoyo en protección civil, ya la gente está puesta para ir. En las juntas que nos han convocado hemos visto a autoridades de Atemajac de Brizuela, Villa Corona y Cuautla. También ya se convocó a la junta del operativo de la Ruta del Peregrino 2026, en la que estuvieron representantes de la Secretaría de Turismo Estatal, Protección Civil y Guardia Nacional. Es un operativo que se hace cada año y en el que se discute la distribución de los puntos de hidratación, la cantidad de medicamentos que estarán disponibles para la población que los necesite y donde se analiza cuáles serían los puntos críticos de esta y otras rutas como las que vienen de Ameca y Nayarit. Participa el DIF estatal con la instalación de albergues, se le trata de brindad seguridad y comodidad al peregrino” compartió.

Guardians of the Route is the name of the initiative implemented by the tour operator Ruta del Peregrino (Pilgrim Route) to keep the trails clean for the thousands of devotees who come to visit the Virgin of Talpa.

“The idea arose from a problem that has persisted for many years. Pilgrims produce a lot of trash along their route. The purpose is to raise awareness among devotees that by littering on the trails, they damage private property, nature, and wildlife to the point that some landowners have considered restricting access to certain areas,” said Rodolfo Herrada, director of the Ruta del Peregrino tour operator. He added, “We are trying to get people to keep their trash until they reach specific points where collection is easier, not on hillsides or in ravines. The idea is not to clean up every time they pass, but rather to keep the path clean, to encourage people to pay attention to the signage related to this problem, and to use the facilities we have installed in collaboration with personnel from the municipalities of Talpa, Mixtlán, Atenguillo, Guachinango, Mascota, and Talpa de Allende correctly.”

The program involves companies or individuals sponsoring 15 kits from the Pilgrim Guardians of Creation team for volunteer brigades that have already carried out clean-up efforts on Cerro del Obispo in Ameca and Espinazo del Diablo in Atenguillo. Participating companies or individuals are named Ambassadors of the Route, and donations can be made through the Go found me platform. Each kit includes a t-shirt and a backpack. Currently, there is a brigade of just over 30 volunteers. In addition to the volunteers, the staff of the participating municipalities provide vehicles for better waste management.

Herrada said that after the events of February 22, the influx of pilgrims, especially on the route coming from Tecomán, had been low, but as the days have passed the flow has increased, and that municipal authorities have begun to work together with private initiatives to support pilgrims with health and security services.

“This week there was a meeting of mayors from Ayutla and Tenamaxtlán, who are offering their support in civil protection, and people are ready to go. At the meetings we’ve been called, we’ve seen authorities from Atemajac de Brizuela, Villa Corona, and Cuautla. The meeting for the 2026 Pilgrim Route operation was also convened, with representatives from the State Tourism Secretariat, Civil Protection, and the National Guard. This is an operation that takes place every year, where the distribution of hydration stations, the amount of medication that will be available for those who need it, and the potential critical points along this and other routes, such as those coming from Ameca and Nayarit, are discussed. The State DIF (National System for Integral Family Development) is participating by setting up shelters; we’re trying to provide security and comfort to the pilgrims», he said.
