La Noche de las estrellas se realiza este 29 de noviembre en todo el país y en Guatemala, con un total de 120 sedes y por décimo séptima ocasión consecutiva, la fiesta astronómica más importante de América Latina, de las cuáles en Guadalajara la sede será el Centro Universitario de Ciencias Exactas e Ingenierías de la Universidad de Guadalajara de las 16:00 a las 22:00 horas, según anunció en entrevista Gerardo Rizo, colaborador de Balsia Producciones y miembro de la Mesa Directiva de la Sociedad Astronómica de Guadalajara (SAG), una de las asociaciones organizadores desde 2009.
Entre las particularidades de este año es que se celebra el Año Internacional de la Ciencia y la Tecnología Cuánticas a 100 años del inicio del desarrollo de esta ciencia que en palabras de Rizo: “está revolucionando nuestra comprensión del cosmos y transformando nuestra vida diaria con tecnologías como la criptografía y la medicina avanzada. En este 2025, a 100 años del inicio del desarrollo de la física cuántica, astrónomos profesionales y aficionados, divulgadores de la ciencia, estudiantes y profesores de carreras científicas, así como el público en general, se reunirán para observar el cielo, disfrutar de la ciencia y celebrar la forma en la que la ciencia y las tecnologías cuánticas han impactado nuestra vida”.
Rizo compartió que “en Guadalajara al ser sede el CUCEI de la UdeG, participarán alumnos y profesores del con la realización de diversos talleres simultáneos relacionados con la Física Cuántica, de diferentes niveles, algunos ideados para niños y otros para expertos. La conferencia central la dará Alejandro Márquez Lugo sobre Física cuántica. Se espera contar con 35 telescopios para realizar observación de las 20:00 a las 23:00 horas en que finalizará el evento y aunque no se podrá ver objetos de cielo profundo, debido a que el cielo contaminado en ciudad no lo permite, sí será posible ver Saturno, la luna, la nebulosa de Orión y la Galaxia Andrómeda. Estamos preparados para recibir hasta 3 mil 500 personas que fue la afluencia que tuvimos el año pasado”.
También se hará una actividad titulada Dibuja la luna. Habrá tres telescopios disponibles para quienes quieran dibujar la luna y al final los organizadores sellarán su dibujo para que constate que lo hicieron en el momento”. Otras actividades que destacan en el programa entre charlas y cuentacuentos, son la participación de grupos de rock de profesores del CUCEI y el grupo Deepnótika que compuso un tema original para este encuentro”.
Starry Night takes place this November 29th throughout Mexico and Guatemala, with a total of 120 venues. For the seventeenth consecutive year, it is the most important astronomical event in Latin America. In Guadalajara, the venue will be the University Center for Exact Sciences and Engineering of the University of Guadalajara, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, as announced in an interview by Gerardo Rizo, collaborator of Balsia Productions and member of the Board of Directors of the Astronomical Society of Guadalajara (SAG), one of the organizing associations since 2009.
Among the special features of this year is the celebration of the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. One hundred years since the beginning of the development of this science, which, in Rizo’s words, “is revolutionizing our understanding of the cosmos and transforming our daily lives with technologies such as cryptography and advanced medicine. In 2025, the centenary of the beginning of quantum physics, professional and amateur astronomers, science communicators, students and professors of science disciplines, as well as the general public, will gather to observe the sky, enjoy science, and celebrate how quantum science and technologies have impacted our lives.”
Rizo shared that “in Guadalajara, with the CUCEI (University of Guadalajara’s Center for Exact Sciences and Engineering) hosting the event, students and professors will participate in various simultaneous workshops related to Quantum Physics, at different levels, some designed for children and others for experts. The keynote address will be given by Alejandro Márquez Lugo on Quantum Physics. We expect to have 35 telescopes available for observation from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, when the event will conclude. Although deep-sky objects will not be visible due to the city’s light pollution, it will be possible to see Saturn, the moon, the Orion Nebula, and the Andromeda Galaxy. We are prepared to receive up to 3,500 people, which was the attendance we had last year.”
An activity titled “Draw the Moon” will also be offered. Three telescopes will be available for those who want to draw the moon, and at the end, the organizers will stamp their drawings to verify that they were done on the spot. Other highlights of the program, in addition to talks and storytelling, include performances by rock bands made up of professors from CUCEI and the group Deepnótika, who composed an original song for this event.

En la Ciudad de México y su área conurbada habrá doce sedes para la atención del público: Las Islas de Ciudad Universitaria, UNAM, con actividades de las 15 a las 22 horas; el Planetario Luis Enrique Erro y el Museo Tezozomoc, ambos del IPN, también con el horario mencionado. El Museo de Historia Natural (Chapultepec); el Bosque de Tláhuac; el plantel San Lorenzo Tezonco de la Universidad Autónoma de la Ciudad de México (Iztapalapa); la Casa de la Cultura del Parque Naucalli; el Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores (TecNM) de Ecatepec; el parque de la Torre Naranja de Geovillas de Santa Bárbara en Ixtapaluca; el Planetario Digital de Chimalhuacán; el Centro Cultural Mexiquense Bicentenario de Texcoco; y el Museo Chinampaxóchitl (Parque ecológico de Xochimilco).
NOCHE DE LAS ESTRELLAS 2025 ENTRE ESTRELLAS Y ÁTOMOS
Este año fue declarado por la ONU como el Año Internacional de la Ciencia y la Tecnología Cuánticas para conmemorar el centenario del inicio del desarrollo de la mecánica cuántica. En 1925 Werner Heisenberg publicó la primera formulación de una teoría que sentó la base para entender el comportamiento de los fenómenos a escala atómica y subatómica. En la década de 1920, personajes como Heisenberg, Erwin Schrödinger, Max Born, Wolfgang Pauli y Louis de Brougli desarrollaron los principios que en 2025 han pasado de ser ideas interesantes a formar uno de los pilares de la física contemporánea y dar lugar a nuevas tecnologías que hemos incorporado en nuestra vida cotidiana. El desarrollo de los transistores, que son la base del funcionamiento de nuestros celulares, es un claro ejemplo de estas tecnologías.
Por otro lado, la ciencia cuántica ha sido esencial para la comprensión de los fenómenos fundamentales del Universo. La mecánica cuántica es la única herramienta que permite describir los procesos que hacen que las estrellas, como nuestro Sol, brillen, así como los procesos que ocurrieron en los instantes posteriores al Big Bang cuando se formaron los primeros átomos en el Universo. La ciencia cuántica también es esencial para el entendimiento de la fenomenología de los objetos cósmicos más enigmáticos, los agujeros negros.
Además, en este 2025 tenemos muchas otras cosas que celebrar. En primer lugar a dos mujeres muy importantes en el desarrollo de la astronomía: 275 aniversario del natalicio de Caroline Herschel, la primera mujer en obtener un puesto de astrónoma profesional remunerado y contribuir en el descubrimiento e identificación de miles de objetos; y el 100 aniversario del natalicio de Nancy Roman, primera Jefa de Astronomía de la NASA y quien fue fundamental para poner en órbita al Telescopio Espacial Hubble, instrumento que revolucionó nuestra visión del Universo. En segundo lugar, celebramos tres aniversarios de transformaciones en nuestra comprensión del universo: 60 aniversario del descubrimiento de la Radiación Cósmica de Fondo, que muestra la luz de las primeras etapas del Universo; los 10 años del descubrimiento de las Ondas Gravitacionales, una predicción de la Teoría de la Relatividad General formulada por Albert Einstein; y el décimo aniversario de la inauguración del Observatorio de Rayos Gamma HAWC, el cual pone a México en el escenario del estudio del Universo en las más altas energías.
Rizo agregó: “Asimismo, en México celebramos el 700 aniversario de la fundación de la Gran Tenochtitlan, que algunos investigadores relacionan con la ocurrencia de un eclipse total de Sol observable desde lo que hoy es la CDMX; y el 235 aniversario del descubrimiento de la Piedra del Sol, un compendio de siglos de observación astronómica”.

NIGHT OF THE STARS 2025: BETWEEN STARS AND ATOMS
This year was declared by the UN as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology to commemorate the centenary of the beginning of the development of quantum mechanics. In 1925, Werner Heisenberg published the first formulation of a theory that laid the foundation for understanding the behavior of phenomena at the atomic and subatomic scale. In the 1920s, figures such as Heisenberg, Erwin Schrödinger, Max Born, Wolfgang Pauli, and Louis de Brougli developed the principles that, by 2025, had gone from being interesting ideas to forming one of the pillars of contemporary physics and giving rise to new technologies that we have incorporated into our daily lives. The development of transistors, which are the basis of the operation of our cell phones, is a clear example of these technologies.
On the other hand, quantum science has been essential for understanding the fundamental phenomena of the Universe. Quantum mechanics is the only tool that allows us to describe the processes that make stars, like our Sun, shine, as well as the processes that occurred in the moments after the Big Bang when the first atoms formed in the Universe. Quantum science is also essential for understanding the phenomenology of the most enigmatic cosmic objects: black holes.
Furthermore, in 2025 we have many other things to celebrate. First, two very important women in the development of astronomy: the 275th anniversary of the birth of Caroline Herschel, the first woman to hold a paid professional astronomy position and contribute to the discovery and identification of thousands of objects; and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nancy Roman, NASA’s first Chief of Astronomy, who was instrumental in launching the Hubble Space Telescope, an instrument that revolutionized our view of the Universe. Secondly, we celebrate three anniversaries of transformations in our understanding of the universe: the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation, which reveals the light from the early stages of the Universe; the 10th anniversary of the discovery of Gravitational Waves, a prediction of the Theory of General Relativity formulated by Albert Einstein; and the 10th anniversary of the inauguration of the HAWC Gamma Ray Observatory, which places Mexico at the forefront of studying the Universe at the highest energies.
Rizo added: “Likewise, in Mexico we celebrate the 700th anniversary of the founding of Great Tenochtitlan, which some researchers link to the occurrence of a total solar eclipse visible from what is now Mexico City; and the 235th anniversary of the discovery of the Sun Stone, a compendium of centuries of astronomical observation.”

La edición 39 de la FIL Guadalajara que tiene como invitada de honor a Barcelona, se integra de un programa de más de 3 mils actividades que podrán disfrutarse 29 de noviembre al 7 de diciembre en diversas sedes del Área Conurbada de Guadalajara.
Este año el invitado de honor es Barcelona y el lema es Vendrán las flores. Durante la rueda de prensa realizada el lunes 6 de octubre, Marisol Schulz Manault, directora de la FIL Guadalajara compartió que el programa que han preparado incluye más de tres mil actividades, la visita de 18 mil profesionales, la presencia de 2,800 sellos editoriales de 60 países y la participación de más de 800 escritores, con lo cual, la FIL Guadalajara se reafirmará como la gran plataforma para los negocios editoriales en Iberoamérica y como la cita ineludible para quienes forman parte de la cadena del libro, así como el encuentro literario más importante en su tipo, al que este año se espera que acudan más de 900 mil personas.
El festival literario de la FIL Guadalajara contará este 2025 con la participación de grandes figuras de la literatura contemporánea, como Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, de Nigeria; Jan Carson, de Reino Unido; Donatella Di Pietrantonio, de Italia; Samer Abu Hawwash, de Líbano; Kev Lambert, de Quebec; Vivek Shraya, de Canadá; Eugenia Ladra, de Uruguay; Leonardo Padura, de Cuba; Xue Mo, de China; Edmundo Paz Soldán, de Bolivia; María Dueñas, de España, Horacio Castellanos Moya, de El Salvador, y Cristina Rivera Garza, de México, entre más de 800 autores de 34 países. Además, la mexicana Mónica Ojeda participará en la Cátedra Latinoamericana Julio Cortázar, el 1 de diciembre en el Paraninfo de la Universidad de Guadalajara.
También se dijo que en esta edición están programadas 635 presentaciones de libros como Antología personal, de Luis García Montero; Avenida 10 de julio, de Nona Fernández; El Hombre, de Guillermo Arriaga; El corazón habitante, de Daniela Tarazona, y Morir en la arena, de Leonardo Padura, entre otros. Autores de México como Alma Delia Murillo, Benito Taibo, Bernardo Esquinca, Mónica Lavín, Antonio Ortuño, Jazmina Barrera, Vivir Quintana o Amandititita presentarán también sus novedades.
PREMIOS Y HOMENAJES EN EL MARCO DE LA EDICIÓN 39 DE LA FIL
El escritor franco libanés Amin Maalouf recibirá el Premio FIL de Literatura en Lenguas Romances, mientras que Eduardo Mendoza, escritor catalán, distinguido este 2025 con el Premio Princesa de Asturias, abrirá el Salón Literario Carlos Fuentes de la Feria y recibirá la medalla que lleva el nombre del autor de La región más transparente. Como parte de los reconocimientos de la Feria, y en el marco de sus jornadas profesionales, se distinguirá a la Asociación de Editoriales Universitarias de América Latina y el Caribe (EULAC) con el Homenaje al Mérito Editorial.
El escritor mexicano Gonzalo Celorio recibirá el Homenaje al Bibliófilo José Luis Martínez, mientras que María Elena Saucedo Lugo obtendrá el Homenaje al Bibliotecario. Yolanda Zamora, una de las voces más escuchadas de la radio jalisciense, tendrá el Homenaje Nacional de Periodismo Cultural Fernando Benítez. El Premio de Literatura Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, el Homenaje de Caricatura La Catrina y el Homenaje ArpaFIL serán anunciados en próximos días. A la FIL acudirán la mexicana María Victoria Díaz Ruiz, ganadora del Premio de Literaturas Indígenas de América; el español Francisco López Serrano, quien obtuvo el Premio Ciudad y Naturaleza José Emilio Pacheco, así como el argentino Jorge Luján, ganador del Premio SM de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil. También estarán las ganadoras del Premio São Paulo de Literatura 2024, Luciany Aparecida y Eliane Marques.
En la conferencia de prensa se informó que desde este año la Feria acogerá dos galardones en colaboración: el Premio Latinoamericano de Poesía Joven Diana Moreno Toscano y el Premio Internacional de Literatura Aura Estrada. Se anunció el Homenaje a Mario Vargas Llosa, que hará memoria de su legado literario y humanista con dos mesas en las que participarán Javier Cercas, Pilar Reyes, Pedro Cateriano, Leonardo Padura, Gaby Warkentin, Xavi Ayén, Raúl Tola y Marisol Schulz Manaut. Se recordará también a la astrónoma mexicana Julieta Fierro en FIL Ciencia, y al comunicador Huemanzin Rodríguez, en voz de sus colegas periodistas culturales.
BARCELONA TRAE CONSIGO UNA AMPLIA PROPUESTA CULTURAL
Con el lema inspirado en un cuento de Mercè Rodoreda, “Vindran les flors” (“Vendrán las flores”), Barcelona será la Invitada de Honor de la FIL Guadalajara, y con ella desembarcará una delegación de 69 autores que escriben en catalán y castellano. La ciudad condal presentará un amplio programa cultural que incluirá espectáculos, exposiciones, artes escénicas, cine y gastronomía, reflejando su equilibrio entre tradición y modernidad literaria. En su programa literario destacarán figuras como Eduardo Mendoza, Javier Cercas, Cristina Fernández Cubas, Carme Riera, Kiko Amat, Joan Manuel Serrat o Mireia Calafell.
El Pabellón barcelonés, diseñado por el estudio Fàbric, recreará una plaza con una librería de diez mil ejemplares, la cual contendrá un auditorio para actividades literarias y profesionales. Además, la Invitada de Honor tendrá una sólida presencia en la programación de la Feria, tanto en FIL Niños como en FIL Ciencia, FIL Pensamiento y el programa para profesionales. En el Foro FIL Barcelona ofrecerá grandes conciertos de artistas como Love of Lesbian, Queralt Lahoz, Roger Mas i la Cobla Sant Jordi, Lucia Fumero y Desilence; Tarta Relena y Maria Arnal; Joan Garriga i El Mariatxi Galàctic, Rigoberta Bandini, Mushkaa y La Sra. Tomasa.
La presencia de Barcelona como invitada en la FIL se extenderá a otros escenarios de la ciudad. Tras el éxito conseguido internacionalmente, La Veronal ofrecerá dos funciones de Sonoma en el Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas. En este espacio se presentarán dos funciones de la lectura dramatizada de La plaza del Diamante, de Mercè Rodoreda, dirigida por Carlota Subirós, con actrices catalanas y mexicanas. Además, Josep Maria Miró presentará su montaje Yo, travesti en el Teatro Experimental de Jalisco.
Los libros de Barcelona, curada por Enric Jardí, propone un recorrido por la historia del diseño editorial en la ciudad, a través de 300 libros, en el Museo de las Artes (MUSA) de la UDG, donde también se exhibirá Espacio Onírico, que muestra el papel de Barcelona como referente en la creación de arte digital. El Museo Cabañas presentará Vendrán las mujeres-150 años de luchas en las calles de Barcelona, comisariada por Ingrid Guardiola, Mita Casacuberta y Anna Maria Iglesia. En este recinto se podrá ver la Trilogía de Cabosanroque, formada por tres instalaciones independientes pensadas para públicos reducidos, centradas en las figuras de Mercè Rodoreda: Flors i viatges, una instalación que habla de la guerra a partir de la experiencia de mujeres que han huido de conflictos actuales; No me hizo Joan Brossa y Demonios. Exorcismos e inorcismos de Jacint Verdaguer.
El cine producido desde Barcelona también tendrá presencia en la FIL Guadalajara. La selección de películas contará con Polvo serán, y tendrá la participación del director Carlos Marcas-Marcet; Olivia y el terremoto invisible, con la presencia de la directora Irene Iborra y Maite Carranza, guionista y autora de la novela; Mi amiga Eva, con la actriz Nora Navas; El 47, con asistencia del director Marcel Barrena; y Seis días corrientes, con la directora Neus Ballús. Las funciones serán en la Cineteca FICG de la Universidad de Guadalajara. Como parte de la propuesta de Barcelona se ofrecerá también un festival gastronómico en el restaurante del hotel Barceló. El cocinero elegido para representar a Barcelona es Gerard Bellver, chef y propietario del restaurante Jiribilla.
EL MUNDO EN LA FIL GUADALAJARA
La literatura de otras partes del mundo tendrá presencia en el Festival de las Letras Europeas, Latinoamérica Viva, Nombrar a Centroamérica porque Centroamérica Cuenta y Destinação Brasil. También habrá literatura de Chile, China, Galicia, Marruecos, Quebec, Ucrania y Uruguay. Se festejarán el Encuentro Internacional de Cuentistas, las Galas del Placer de la Lectura y el Salón de la Poesía, que este año presenta 25 autores de diez países.
En las sesiones de Mil Jóvenes con… estarán Amin Maalouf, Joan Manuel Serrat, Maite Carranza, Rosa Montero, Eduardo Sáenz de Cabezón y Cristina Rivera Garza. Por su parte, Jaime Alfonso Sandoval participará en la Premiación del Concurso Cartas al Autor. El programa de FIL Joven explorará temas como la inteligencia artificial, el feminismo, las masculinidades, la diversidad sexual o el uso adecuado de las tarjetas de crédito. Con Ecos de la FIL se espera la visita de más de cien autores a preparatorias de la UDG en todo el estado de Jalisco. FIL Ciencia, por su parte, ofrecerá charlas en las que se abordan temas como neurociencia, genética, salud mental, cambio climático, astronomía o física cuántica, entre otros. En las más de 30 actividades del programa de divulgación científica estarán reconocidos expertos como el Premio Nobel de Química en 2009, Venki Ramakrishnan. También Pere Estupinyà, Miguel Alcubierre, Gemma Marfany, Pepe Gordon y Mara Dierssen, entre otros.
El Salón del Cómic + Novela Gráfica de la FIL se inaugurará el jueves 4 de diciembre con un homenaje por 35 años de trayectoria al historietista mexicano Bernardo Fernández Bef. Contará con 60 stands y 140 autores. La ambientación estará basada en la historieta Astérix. Participarán en el programa del Foro Rius autores como Emmy Hernández, Paula Mayor, Edu Molina y Lize Meddings, entre otras personalidades de la narrativa gráfica. El espacio dedicado a la gastronomía en FIL, Libros al Gusto, ofrecerá 18 actividades como “Comer en primera persona”, “Semillas de identidad: los alimentos que México aportó al mundo” o “Colima una gran travesía gastronómica”.
LO MÁS DESTACADO DE FIL PENSAMIENTO
La FIL será un espacio para discutir los grandes retos de las sociedades contemporáneas, con figuras de diversos ámbitos del conocimiento y las artes. FIL Pensamiento contará con 285 personalidades de 26 países, con más de 70 actividades que, además de Expo, llegarán a centros universitarios y a la Rambla Cataluña, donde este año se realizarán siete charlas. Entre otras figuras participarán Rita Segato, Martín Caparrós, Josep Borrell, Joselo, Laura Chinchilla, Enrique Krauze, José Sarukhán, Joan Subirats, Eileen Truax, Diego Luna y Silvana Mojsovski.
ENCUENTRO DE PROFESIONALES
En los 43 mil metros cuadrados de exhibición de la FIL tendrán presencia de más de 2,800 sellos editoriales de 60 países, con la participación por vez primera de Eslovenia y Suecia, el regreso de Reino Unido y Suiza. También llegarán, por primera vez, profesionales de la industria editorial provenientes de Bangladesh. El programa para profesionales incluye el Foro Internacional de Editores y Profesionales del Libro, con el tema “Literatura infantil sin fronteras: innovación, inclusión y futuro”; el Foro Internacional de Diseño Editorial, FILustra, el Foro Audio FIL, el Foro Internacional de Libreros, el Congreso de Traducción e Interpretación San Jerónimo o el Coloquio Internacional de Bibliotecarios formarán parte de estos encuentros.
También habrá reuniones sobre edición universitaria, una jornada en torno a la inteligencia artificial, la Reunión Ordinaria de la AMBAC, las jornadas de la Asociación Mexicana de Traductores Literarios, el Encuentro de Editores Independientes y actividades especiales en el Foro de Industria y el FIL Rights Exchange.
FIL NIÑOS EL LENGUAJE DEL ASOMBRO
En FIL Niños —el pabellón favorito y más entrañable de la Feria—talleres y espectáculos logran asombrar y abrir caminos hacia nuevas formas de comprender el mundo. Barcelona tendrá en este espacio una amplia delegación de ilustradores y autores, encabezada por el creador catalán Miguel Bustos, responsable de la imagen oficial del pabellón infantil. Durante nueve días se realizarán 1,394 sesiones de quince talleres de fomento a la lectura y la escritura creativa, guiadas por 43 talleristas de disciplinas como literatura, artes plásticas y escénicas, música, fotografía, arte sonoro y mediación cultural, quienes compartirán distintas formas de explorar y vivir el asombro.
Los talleres espontáneos de FIL Niños alcanzan este año su edición más potente, con 44 sesiones que suman 25 experiencias de intercambio creativo, con la participación de autores de México, Argentina, Uruguay, Italia, Polonia y doce creadores de Barcelona. A esto se suma la programación del Foro FIL Niños, con 25 espectáculos y 77 funciones a cargo de 24 compañías de Argentina, Brasil, Colombia, España, Estados Unidos, Italia, México, Polonia y Portugal. Entre ilustración, escritura, música, artes escénicas y creación visual, FIL Niños celebrará la diversidad creativa y la capacidad de maravillarse con la lectura y el arte en comunidad.
HACIA UNA FIL SOSTENIBLE
En la conferencia de prensa donde se anunció el programa de la FIL 2025 se informó del proyecto de sostenibilidad de la Feria, que busca reducir su impacto ambiental y contribuir a la lucha contra el cambio climático. Marisol Schulz Manaut invitó al público asistente de la gran fiesta de los libros a sumarse de manera activa usando transporte público, bicicleta o automóvil compartido para llegar a la FIL, y a colaborar en la separación de residuos dentro de la Feria. Estas medidas, junto con el compromiso del Comité Organizador de la Feria, son parte del camino hacia la certificación internacional ISO 20121:2024, que distingue a eventos que adoptan prácticas sostenibles y éticas.
Schulz Manaut recordó que la FIL Guadalajara es una iniciativa surgida hace 39 años en la Universidad de Guadalajara: “Toda la Universidad, desde sus autoridades y trabajadores hasta profesores y estudiantes son parte intrínseca de nuestra Feria, y eso la hace muy especial. Gracias a todas y todos”. La directora general de la FIL Guadalajara agradeció a los 72 patrocinadores y auspiciantes de la FIL y “a todas y cada una de las instituciones, editoriales y embajadas que colaboran en nuestro programa. De manera especial destaco el apoyo de Expo Guadalajara, así como del equipo del recinto. La FIL somos todos”.
Venta de boletos
Desde este lunes 6 de octubre comienza la venta de entradas para la FIL 2025, por vía digital a través de Boletomóvil, desde la página web www.fil.com.mx, y de forma física en las oficinas de la Feria, ubicadas en Alemania 1370, en la colonia Moderna de Guadalajara. El costo general es de 30 pesos, con descuentos para estudiantes, menores de edad, profesores, personas con discapacidad o de la tercera edad.

The 39th edition of the Guadalajara International Book Fair, with Barcelona as its guest of honor, is part of a program of more than 3,000 activities that can be enjoyed from November 29th to December 7th at various venues in the Greater Guadalajara Area.
This year, the guest of honor is Barcelona, and the theme is «The Flowers Will Come.» During the press conference held on Monday, October 6th, Marisol Schulz Manault, director of the Guadalajara International Book Fair, shared that the program they have prepared includes more than 3,000 activities, visits from 18,000 professionals, the presence of 2,800 publishing houses from 60 countries, and the participation of more than 800 writers. With this, the Guadalajara International Book Fair will reaffirm itself as the major platform for the publishing industry in Latin America and the unmissable event for those involved in the book industry. It is also the most important literary gathering of its kind, which this year is expected to attract more than 900,000 people.
The Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) Literary Festival will feature the participation of leading figures in contemporary literature in 2025, including Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie from Nigeria; Jan Carson from the United Kingdom; Donatella Di Pietrantonio from Italy; Samer Abu Hawwash from Lebanon; Kev Lambert from Quebec; Vivek Shraya from Canada; Eugenia Ladra from Uruguay; Leonardo Padura from Cuba; Xue Mo from China; Edmundo Paz Soldán from Bolivia; María Dueñas from Spain; Horacio Castellanos Moya from El Salvador; and Cristina Rivera Garza from Mexico, among more than 800 authors from 34 countries. Additionally, Mexican author Mónica Ojeda will participate in the Julio Cortázar Latin American Chair, on December 1st at the University of Guadalajara Auditorium.
It was also announced that 635 book presentations are scheduled for this edition, including Personal Anthology by Luis García Montero; 10th of July Avenue by Nona Fernández; El Hombre (The Man) by Guillermo Arriaga; El corazón habitante (The Inhabitant Heart) by Daniela Tarazona; and Morir en la arena (Dying in the Sand) by Leonardo Padura, among others. Mexican authors such as Alma Delia Murillo, Benito Taibo, Bernardo Esquinca, Mónica Lavín, Antonio Ortuño, Jazmina Barrera, Vivir Quintana, and Amandititita will also present their new works.
AWARDS AND TRIBUTES AT THE 39TH EDITION OF THE FIL
The French-Lebanese writer Amin Maalouf will receive the FIL Prize for Literature in Romance Languages, while Eduardo Mendoza, a Catalan writer who received the Princess of Asturias Award in 2025, will open the Carlos Fuentes Literary Salon at the Fair and receive the medal bearing the name of the author of La región más transparente (The Most Transparent Region). As part of the Fair’s recognitions, and within the framework of its professional conferences, the Association of University Presses of Latin America and the Caribbean (EULAC) will be honored with the Editorial Merit Tribute.
Mexican writer Gonzalo Celorio will receive the José Luis Martínez Bibliophile Tribute, while María Elena Saucedo Lugo will receive the Librarian Tribute. Yolanda Zamora, one of the most listened-to voices on Jalisco radio, will receive the Fernando Benítez National Cultural Journalism Tribute. The Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Literature Prize, the La Catrina Cartoon Tribute, and the ArpaFIL Tribute will be announced in the coming days. Mexican María Victoria Díaz Ruiz, winner of the Indigenous Literature of the Americas Prize, will also attend the FIL. Spaniard Francisco López Serrano, winner of the José Emilio Pacheco City and Nature Award, as well as Argentine Jorge Luján, winner of the SM Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature. Also present will be the winners of the 2024 São Paulo Prize for Literature, Luciany Aparecida and Eliane Marques.
At the press conference, it was announced that starting this year, the Fair will host two collaborative awards: the Diana Moreno Toscano Latin American Young Poetry Prize and the Aura Estrada International Literature Prize. The Tribute to Mario Vargas Llosa was announced, commemorating his literary and humanistic legacy with two panels featuring Javier Cercas, Pilar Reyes, Pedro Cateriano, Leonardo Padura, Gaby Warkentin, Xavi Ayén, Raúl Tola, and Marisol Schulz Manaut. Mexican astronomer Julieta Fierro will also be honored at FIL Ciencia, and communicator Huemanzin Rodríguez will be honored by his fellow cultural journalists.
BARCELONA BRINGS A WIDE CULTURAL PROPOSAL
With the motto inspired by a story by Mercè Rodoreda, “Vindran les flors” (“The Flowers Will Come”), Barcelona will be the Guest of Honor at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), and with it will arrive a delegation of 69 authors who write in Catalan and Spanish. The city will present a broad cultural program that will include shows, exhibitions, performing arts, film, and gastronomy, reflecting its balance between literary tradition and modernity. Its literary program will feature figures such as Eduardo Mendoza, Javier Cercas, Cristina Fernández Cubas, Carme Riera, Kiko Amat, Joan Manuel Serrat, and Mireia Calafell.
The Barcelona Pavilion, designed by the Fàbric studio, will recreate a square with a bookstore with ten thousand copies, which will also house an auditorium for literary and professional activities. Furthermore, the Guest of Honor will have a strong presence in the Fair’s programming, including FIL Children, FIL Science, FIL Pensamiento, and the program for professionals. At the FIL Barcelona Forum, she will offer major concerts by artists such as Love of Lesbian, Queralt Lahoz, Roger Mas i la Cobla Sant Jordi, Lucia Fumero, and Desilence; Tarta Relena and Maria Arnal; Joan Garriga i El Mariatxi Galàctic, Rigoberta Bandini, Mushkaa, and La Sra. Tomasa.
Barcelona’s presence as a guest at the FIL will extend to other venues in the city. Following its international success, La Veronal will offer two performances of Sonoma at the Conjunto Santander de Artes Escénicas. This venue will present two performances of the dramatized reading of La plaza del Diamante by Mercè Rodoreda, directed by Carlota Subirós, with Catalan and Mexican actresses. In addition, Josep Maria Miró will present his production «I, Transvestite» at the Experimental Theater of Jalisco.
«Los libros de Barcelona,» curated by Enric Jardí, offers a journey through the history of editorial design in the city, through 300 books, at the Museum of Arts (MUSA) of the University of Madrid (UDG). Espacio Onírico will also be on display, showcasing Barcelona’s role as a benchmark in the creation of digital art. The Museo Cabañas will present «Vendrán las mujeres – 150 años de luchas en las calles de Barcelona,» curated by Ingrid Guardiola, Mita Casacuberta, and Anna Maria Iglesia. The Cabosanroque Trilogy, consisting of three independent installations designed for small audiences, will be on display, focusing on the figures of Mercè Rodoreda: «Flors i viatges,» an installation that speaks of war through the experiences of women who have fled current conflicts; «No me hizo Joan Brossa» (It Didn’t Make Me); and «Demons.» Exorcisms and Inorcisms by Jacint Verdaguer.
Cinema produced in Barcelona will also be present at the Guadalajara International Film Festival. The film selection will include Polvo será (The Will), with the participation of director Carlos Marcas-Marcet; Olivia y el terremoto invisible (Olivia and the Invisible Earthquake), with director Irene Iborra and Maite Carranza, screenwriter and author of the novel; Mi amiga Eva (My Friend Eva), with actress Nora Navas; El 47 (The 47), with the assistance of director Marcel Barrena; and Seis días corrientes (Six Ordinary Days), with director Neus Ballús. The screenings will be at the FICG Film Library of the University of Guadalajara. As part of Barcelona’s program, a gastronomic festival will also be offered at the Barceló Hotel restaurant. The chef chosen to represent Barcelona is Gerard Bellver, chef and owner of the Jiribilla restaurant.
THE WORLD AT THE FIL GUADALAJARA
Literature from other parts of the world will be present at the Festival of European Literature, Latin America Viva, Naming Central America Because Central America Counts, and Destinação Brasil. Literature from Chile, China, Galicia, Morocco, Quebec, Ukraine, and Uruguay will also be featured. The International Short Story Writers’ Meeting, the Pleasure of Reading Galas, and the Poetry Salon, which this year features 25 authors from ten countries, will also be held.
The Thousand Young People with… sessions will feature Amin Maalouf, Joan Manuel Serrat, Maite Carranza, Rosa Montero, Eduardo Sáenz de Cabezón, and Cristina Rivera Garza. Jaime Alfonso Sandoval will participate in the Letters to the Author Contest Awards Ceremony. The FIL Joven program will explore topics such as artificial intelligence, feminism, masculinities, sexual diversity, and the proper use of credit cards. With Echoes of the FIL, more than one hundred authors are expected to visit UDG high schools throughout the state of Jalisco. FIL Ciencia, for its part, will offer talks covering topics such as neuroscience, genetics, mental health, climate change, astronomy, and quantum physics, among others. The more than 30 activities of the science outreach program will feature renowned experts such as 2009 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, Venki Ramakrishnan, as well as Pere Estupinyà, Miguel Alcubierre, Gemma Marfany, Pepe Gordon, and Mara Dierssen, among others.
The FIL Comic + Graphic Novel Show will open on Thursday, December 4th, with a tribute to Mexican cartoonist Bernardo Fernández Bef, celebrating his 35-year career. It will feature 60 booths and 140 authors. The setting will be based on the comic book Asterix. Authors such as Emmy Hernández, Paula Mayor, Edu Molina, and Lize Meddings, among other graphic narrative personalities, will participate in the Rius Forum program. The FIL’s gastronomy space, Libros al Gusto, will offer 18 activities such as «Eating in First Person,» «Seeds of Identity: The Foods Mexico Contributed to the World,» and «Colima, a Great Gastronomic Journey.»

The FIL will be a space to discuss the major challenges of contemporary societies, with figures from diverse fields of knowledge and the arts. The program for professionals includes the International Forum of Publishers and Book Professionals, with the theme «Children’s Literature without Borders: Innovation, Inclusion, and the Future»; The International Editorial Design Forum (FILustra), the Audio FIL Forum, the International Booksellers’ Forum, the San Jerónimo Translation and Interpreting Congress, and the International Librarians’ Colloquium will be part of these events.
There will also be meetings on university publishing, a conference on artificial intelligence, the Ordinary Meeting of the AMBAC (Academic Association of Book Translators), the Mexican Association of Literary Translators conferences, the Independent Publishers’ Meeting, and special activities at the Industry Forum and the FIL Rights Exchange.
FIL CHILDREN: THE LANGUAGE OF WONDER
At FIL Children—the Fair’s favorite and most beloved pavilion—workshops and shows manage to amaze and open paths to new ways of understanding the world. Barcelona will host a large delegation of illustrators and authors in this space, led by Catalan creator Miguel Bustos, responsible for the official image of the children’s pavilion. Over nine days, 1,394 sessions of fifteen workshops will be held to promote reading and creative writing, led by 43 workshop leaders from disciplines such as literature, visual and performing arts, music, photography, sound art, and cultural mediation, who will share different ways of exploring and experiencing wonder.
This year’s FIL Niños spontaneous workshops reach their most powerful edition, with 44 sessions totaling 25 creative exchange experiences, featuring authors from Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Italy, Poland, and twelve creators from Barcelona. Added to this is the FIL Niños Forum program, with 25 shows and 77 performances by 24 companies from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, the United States, Italy, Mexico, Poland, and Portugal. Across illustration, writing, music, performing arts, and visual creation, FIL Niños will celebrate creative diversity and the capacity to be amazed by reading and art in community.
TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE FIL
At the press conference announcing the FIL 2025 program, the Fair’s sustainability project was announced, seeking to reduce its environmental impact and contribute to the fight against climate change. Marisol Schulz Manaut invited the public attending the great book festival to actively participate by using public transportation, bicycles, or carpooling to get to the FIL, and to collaborate in waste separation at the Fair. These measures, along with the commitment of the Fair’s Organizing Committee, are part of the path toward ISO 20121:2024 international certification, which recognizes events that adopt sustainable and ethical practices.
Schulz Manaut emphasized that the FIL Guadalajara is an initiative that emerged 39 years ago at the University of Guadalajara: «The entire University, from its authorities and staff to professors and students, is an intrinsic part of our Fair, and that makes it very special. Thank you all.» The Director General of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) thanked the 72 sponsors and supporters of the FIL and “each and every one of the institutions, publishers, and embassies that collaborate with our program. Ticket sales for FIL 2025 begin this Monday, October 6th, online through Boletomóvil, on the website http://www.fil.com.mx, and in person at the Fair offices, located at Alemania 1370, in Guadalajara’s Moderna neighborhood. The general ticket price is 30 pesos, with discounts for students, minors, teachers, people with disabilities, and senior citizens.
