En un hecho histórico para la fe jalisciense, El Papa León XIV realizó la bendición y coronación pontificia de la imagen de María Madre Nuestra durante la audiencia general celebrada en el Vaticano, el pasado miércoles 29 de octubre. La ceremonia, reconoció la profunda historia espiritual de esta advocación mariana con 175 años de tradición, resguardada por generaciones de la familia Hernández Pérez, originaria de Jalisco.

De culto privado, esta imagen ha atravesado una historia marcada por la recuperación, la veneración clandestina y su resguardo durante la Guerra Cristera. Con su coronación pontificia, María Madre Nuestra se convierte en la segunda imagen jalisciense coronada por un papa, después de la Virgen de Zapopan, coronada por San Juan Pablo II en 1979.

En un acto posterior, celebrado en la Sala de los Palacios Pontificios, el cardenal Pietro Parolin, Secretario de Estado del Vaticano, otorgó su bendición al manto y la corona que portará la Virgen del Sagrario de Tamazula, una imagen que desde hace también 175 años peregrina hacia Zapotiltic, reafirmando una tradición de fe y comunión en el sur de Jalisco.

Ambas coronas fueron elaboradas y donadas por Maestros Joyeros, una de las casas joyeras más reconocidas de México. La gestión de estas piezas, que fusionan arte sacro y devoción, fue coordinada por la Agencia Must PR, bajo la dirección de Viridiana y Edgar Estrella, junto con el vaticanista Ramiro Escoto, quienes encabezaron la entrega de los ornamentos al Vaticano.

En representación de las comunidades de Tamazula y Zapotiltic, asistieron María Ileana Lara Alcaraz y Zinedine Lares Munguía, quienes participaron en el encuentro con el cardenal Parolin y recibieron su bendición.

Durante la misma audiencia, el padre Francisco Ramírez Yáñez, rector de la Universidad del Valle de Atemajac (UNIVA) y presidente de la Federación Internacional de Universidades Católicas (FIUC), sostuvo un diálogo con el Secretario de Estado sobre los desafíos educativos contemporáneos, laincorporación de la inteligencia artificial en la enseñanza y la urgencia de promover modelos educativos centrados en la ética y el bien común.

Por su parte, el empresario Javier Zepeda Orozco, vicepresidente de la CONCANACO SERVYTUR, entregó al cardenal Parolin la Medalla por la Paz, como reconocimiento al compromiso del Vaticano con la reconciliación y la ayuda humanitaria en regiones afectadas por conflictos como Gaza, Ucrania y Rusia.

Asimismo, Juan Alberto Hernández ofreció a la Santa Sede una imagen de la Virgen María, la cual fue colocada en el pasillo que conduce a la Sala de los Palacios Apostólicos, como símbolo de gratitud y devoción hacia la Madre de Dios.

Destacó también la presencia del padre Juan Pablo Cerrillos, sacerdote jalisciense originario de Tequila, quien recibió a la delegación mexicana en Casa Santa Marta, en el salón donde el Papa Francisco solía reunirse con medios y visitantes especiales.

Al cierre de la jornada, en la Basílica de San Pedro, el padre Cerrillos dirigió un rosario privado en una capilla histórica, culminando con un momento de contemplación ante el altar mayor del templo, obra monumental de Bernini y Miguel Ángel.

In a historic event for the faith of Jalisco, Pope Leo XIV performed the pontifical blessing and coronation of the image of Mary Our Mother during the general audience held at the Vatican last Wednesday, October 29. The ceremony recognized the profound spiritual history of this Marian devotion, with 175 years of tradition, safeguarded by generations of the Hernández Pérez family, originally from Jalisco.

Originally a private devotion, this image has undergone a history marked by its recovery, clandestine veneration, and its safekeeping during the Cristero War. With her pontifical coronation, Our Lady becomes the second image from Jalisco crowned by a pope, after Our Lady of Zapopan, crowned by Saint John Paul II in 1979.

In a subsequent ceremony held in the Hall of the Papal Palaces, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, bestowed his blessing upon the mantle and crown that will be worn by Our Lady of the Sanctuary of Tamazula, an image that for 175 years has also made a pilgrimage to Zapotiltic, reaffirming a tradition of faith and communion in southern Jalisco.

Both crowns were crafted and donated by Maestros Joyeros, one of Mexico’s most renowned jewelry houses. The acquisition of these pieces, which fuse sacred art and devotion, was coordinated by Must PR Agency, under the direction of Viridiana and Edgar Estrella, along with Vatican expert Ramiro Escoto, who led the delivery of the ornaments to the Vatican.

Representing the communities of Tamazula and Zapotiltic, María Ileana Lara Alcaraz and Zinedine Lares Munguía attended the meeting with Cardinal Parolin and received his blessing.

During the same audience, Father Francisco Ramírez Yáñez, rector of the University of the Valley of Atemajac (UNIVA) and president of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC), held a dialogue with the Secretary of State about contemporary educational challenges, the incorporation of artificial intelligence in teaching, and the urgent need to promote educational models centered on ethics and the common good.

For his part, businessman Javier Zepeda Orozco, vice president of CONCANACO SERVYTUR, presented Cardinal Parolin with the Medal for Peace, in recognition of the Vatican’s commitment to reconciliation and humanitarian aid in conflict-affected regions such as Gaza, Ukraine, and Russia.

Juan Alberto Hernández also presented the Holy See with an image of the Virgin Mary, which was placed in the corridor leading to the Hall of the Apostolic Palaces, as a symbol of gratitude and devotion to the Mother of God.

Also noteworthy was the presence of Father Juan Pablo Cerrillos, a priest from Tequila, Jalisco, who welcomed the Mexican delegation to Casa Santa Marta, in the room where Pope Francis used to meet with the media and special visitors.

At the close of the day, in St. Peter’s Basilica, Father Cerrillos led a private rosary in a historic chapel, culminating in a moment of contemplation before the main altar of the basilica, a monumental work by Bernini and Michelangelo.
