The 17th Zapotlanejo Day of the Dead Festival, titled “¡Ahí está el detalle!”, will run from October 30 to November 15, offering monumental attractions, settings inspired by Mexican cinema, and free cultural activities. A key new feature this year is the decentralization of the displays, with the installation of a “Biker Catrina” in the district of La Laja.
Mayor Patricia Sánchez González announced that this year’s investment for the festivities totaled just over 2 million pesos. For the first time, one of the festival’s monumental structures will be located outside the municipal seat. In La Laja, a 10-meter-tall skeleton figure will be installed alongside a five-meter-long motorcycle—a tribute to the local motorcycling community, which frequently organizes gatherings in the municipality.
This attraction will be unveiled on October 31 and will feature a special setting that includes six figures of Monjas Coronadas (“crowned nuns”). According to the mayor, the idea came from the residents of the district themselves, with the goal of incorporating their own interests and cultural expressions into the celebration.
In the Historic Center, the festival will be dedicated to the Mexican comedian Mario Moreno, known as “Cantinflas.” Among the main attractions is a monumental 22-meter-tall Catrín (a dapper, skeletal gentleman) styled after the actor, alongside a traditional Catrina of the same height, which will debut a dress crafted by local seamstresses and artisans to highlight Zapotlanejo’s textile tradition.
The program also features eight interactive sets inspired by iconic films starring Cantinflas, including Ahí está el detalle, El barrendero, El padrecito, El profe, El patrullero 777, and Around the World in 80 Days. These installations will be distributed across various locations, such as Reforma Street, the entrance arches (Arcos de Ingreso), the esplanade of the House of Culture (Casa de la Cultura), and the municipal cemetery.
Additionally, there will be a 10-meter-tall, pyramid-shaped pre-Hispanic altar, conceived as a community offering to commemorate the deceased.
The festival will extend its activities to the districts of Santa Fe and Matatlán, which will host cultural and gastronomic showcases. Furthermore, the Government of Jalisco will support the celebration with a video-mapping spectacle projected onto the monumental structures.
Access to the installations, sets, performances, and all other activities is free of charge. With this edition, Zapotlanejo aims to strengthen its Day of the Dead traditions, foster community participation, and expand the municipality’s cultural and tourism offerings.

“Tú también te has ido, mi Lazare… Adeck…
French presenter Christophe Dechavanne is going through a period marked by personal loss and professional change. On October 20, 2026, he shared an emotional farewell message on Instagram for his dog, Lazare, accompanied by a video of himself dancing and singing with his pet in a swimming pool.
“You’re gone too, my Lazare… Adeck… Hello… I’m sure they were waiting for you with open paws… I will miss you,” wrote the presenter, who has often spoken about the deep affection he feels for his animals. This farewell deeply touched his followers, as he had previously lost his Jack Russell Terrier, Adeck, in 2020, and Hello, who died in an accident in 2021.
Professionally, Dechavanne stepped away from television in the spring of 2025, leaving his role on the France 2 program Quelle époque!, hosted by Léa Salamé. His departure followed a conviction in February of that year for driving under the influence of cocaine and exceeding speed limits. The court imposed a fine of 1,200 euros and a six-month suspension of his driver’s license.
At 68, the presenter is now looking to forge a path in cinema. In late 2025, he appeared in Toujours possible, a film directed by Jacques Ouaniche, in which he plays the boss of the character portrayed by Nadia Farès.
With a career that includes iconic shows such as Coucou c’est nous! and La roue de la fortune, Dechavanne is beginning a new chapter away from television studios, all while coping with the loss of yet another one of his pets.

CELEBRITIES. Kyle Francis Kennedy Passes Away
The Kennedy family is in mourning once again following the death of Kyle Francis Kennedy—granddaughter of former Senator Robert F. Kennedy and great-niece of former U.S. President John F. Kennedy—who passed away on September 21 at her home in Westwood, Massachusetts, at the age of 42. The news became public on October 20, nearly a month after her passing. As of now, the cause of death has not been officially disclosed.
The daughter of Michael Kennedy—who died in a skiing accident in 1997—and Victoria Gifford, Kyle was notable for her academic achievements and her commitment to education. She earned a degree in History from Georgetown University, followed by postgraduate studies in Early Childhood Education at Pace University and in Educational Policy and Management at Harvard.
In 2019, she participated in the Boston Marathon; however, a year later, she suffered a severe spinal cord injury that resulted in permanent paralysis and various medical complications. From that point on, she became an advocate for the rights of people with disabilities, even testifying before the Massachusetts legislature to speak out against medical discrimination and demand equitable access to healthcare services.
Both before and after her accident, she worked as a teacher in New York through the Teach For America program and contributed to educational reform initiatives aimed at underserved communities.
In 2012, she married Liam Kerr, from whom she later divorced. She had three children: twins Conor and Josephine, as well as Declan. Josephine passed away just days after birth. Kyle is survived by her sons, Conor and Declan, as well as her mother and her siblings.
Her death adds to the series of tragedies that have marked the Kennedy family; it follows the passing of her cousin, Tatiana Schlossberg, who died in December 2025 from leukemia.
